During this class you will have a chance to experience all the stages of throwing at the wheel: centering, throwing, trimming and surface decoration. Finished work will be fired and ready for pick shortly after the last class.

Glaze Daze

Two three-hour sessions

Join ceramic artist Elizabeth Kendall to learn new surface decoration techniques.  During these two sessions students will explore a variety of methods for applying glazes and underglazes on both bisque and greenware. Including mishima, sgraffito, wax and latex resist, and ceramic decals, stencils and silkscreening.  We will also discuss aesthetic decision making and developing your own personal voice. Class fee includes one bisque and one glaze firing. Students are expected to bring 3-5 leather-hard vessels to first class.

Beginning Wheel

Fridays from 11-1:30

Ages: 16+

In this 8-week class students will learn about the properties of clay and glaze materials.  Through discussion, demonstration and hands-on we will explore how the material moves and how to control it.  Focus will be on bowl forms, and throwing off the hump.  Personal style and glaze application solutions will also be introduced.  A materials fee of $35, which covers cost of 25lb of clay and firing fees, is due to the instructor at the first class.

Private Wheel Throwing Lessons

2-hour session $50.00

Clay Conversations

Spend an afternoon looking at beautiful pottery and talking about what you like, what you might do differently.  This class is intended to help you develop your own solutions and your own style. Students are invited share images or actual pots which we will use to spark discussion and develop design ideas. Bring pens, brushes, paper or ipad with procreate.

Explore a variety of mark making techniques and begin developing your own library of marks and shapes.  First on paper and then on clay tiles we will explore different mark making and surface decoration techniques. Class includes a bisque firing and final glaze firing.
